Maynooth University Department of Law's Model Parliament 2014 was a great success.
This year, 25 secondary schools from across the country took part in the debate calling for a Same Sex Marriage Referendum. Both the Leas-Cheann Comhairle and the visiting judge, Professor Gary Murphy, were impressed by the acuity, not to mention decorum, of the participating students. Many thought-provoking contributions were made, and the Law Department was delighted to present Muireann Bergin (Loreto College, Mullingar) with the prize for Best Speaker and Ronan Byrne (Coláiste Bhríde, Co. Wicklow) with the prize for Best Research Paper. Congratulations to all involved!
