Dr Maria Helen Murphy invited to speak at the Royal Irish Academy at 'Social Media and Democracy’ event

    In May, Dr Maria Helen Murphy was invited to speak at the Royal Irish Academy. The title of the event was 'Social media and democracy: How do we balance rights and responsibilities?' and a podcast of the event is now available on the RIA website. The panel discussion explored the challenges and opportunities that social media creates in our society and the case for online content regulation and controls. In addition to Dr Murphy, the other panellists were Professor Brian O'Neill, Gavin Sheridan, and Professor Eugenia Siapera. The panel discussion was chaired by Helen Shaw.
