‘Pirates, postdocs and publications – a PhD story’

Thursday, October 12, 2017 - 18:00
An Foras Feasa Seminar Room, First Floor, Iontas Building, North Campus

Piracy has existed as long as the sea has been harnessed as a source of food and as a conduit for transportation of people and goods. The process of writing a PhD can, at times, feel just as long! This presentation will discuss a recent Maynooth History Department graduate’s experience of making the transition from PhD student to post-doc and some of the lessons learnt along the way. It will also explore a key aspect of Dr McCabe’s forthcoming book, specifically the opening chapter on the historical context of modern maritime piracy.

You are invited to attend the launch of Dr McCabe’s book which will immediately follow his paper and the Q&A session.
