We live in an earth facing ecological crisis, changing weather systems, species extinctions, and global pandemics. How can we repair our collapsing environments ? Earth Writings: Bogs, Forests, Fields, Gardens which will be launched as part of the Dublin Art Book Fair 2020 and an extended GeoWeek 2020 features work by Irish-based artists Monica de Bath, Cathy Fitzgerald, Pauline O’Connell and Seoidín O’Sullivan. With Geographers and Irish Studies scholars, Dr Patrick Bresnihan, Dr Nessa Cronin, Professor Gerry Kearns, and Professor Karen Till, respectively, the artists and scholars wrote essays investigating how we can develop local responsibility for our environments and wounded places. A new website, Earthwritings.ie and future Cork University Press book series project ‘Earth Writings’, will also be launched. Funding for the book included the Maynooth Geography Research Incentive Fund, Creative Ireland and the Irish Research Council NF STEAM award.
