Dr Malene H. Jacobsen, Department of Geography and Dr Barry Cannon, Department of Sociology are organizing a one-day seminar inspired by Derrida’s concept of ‘hostipitality’.
This seminar seeks to explore how meanings – of hostility and hospitality - manifest themselves in Europe and Ireland. Bringing together scholars from a range of disciplines and representatives of local refugee and migrant groups, we will further discuss what role of the University – and the Social Sciences – can play in the reception and treatment of migrants.
