A former seminarian of St Patricks College, Maynooth, Rev Francis Gleeson appears in the recently published article of the Irish Times (4 August 2014) regarding the mystery behind the well known painting The Last General Absolution of the Munsters at Rue du Bois’ by Fortunio Matania. The painting depicts Rev. Francis Gleeson giving absolution to the Royal Munster Fusiliers before the Battle of Aubers Ridge in France, 1915. Rev Francis Gleeson, a native of Templemore, Co Tipperary was ordained in St Patricks College in 1910. Historic Mount Street comes to Digital Life
