Maynooth University GAA Club

The Maynooth University GAA Club is the largest student club with a membership of 600 students. The GAA club and scholarship programme is managed by Jenny Duffy, GAA Development Officer. There are currently fourteen teams within our four GAA Clubs representing Maynooth University in both elite and non-elite competitions in the following codes.

· Men’s Football
· Hurling
· Ladies Football
· Camogie

The University GAA season runs continuously from September to March during each academic year. The GAA Club caters for all levels and abilities. The Maynooth University GAA teams play home games on the North campus floodlit GAA pitch. Maynooth University's home team colours are teal and the away team jersey is white.
The Men's Gaelic Football Club compete in the Sigerson Cup, intermediate, junior, fresher division one and fresher two league and championship competitions.
The Hurling Club contest the Fitzgibbon Cup, intermediate and fresher division one league and championship competitions.
The Ladies Gaelic Football Club represent the University in the Giles Cup (senior one), Moynihan Cup (senior two) and fresher league and championship competitions.
The Camogie Club participate in the Ashbourne Cup, intermediate and fresher league and championship competitions.
Each club has an executive membership of players who take on the responsibility of committee positions, varying from the role of Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Registrar and PRO each year.
There are currently GAA Scholarships available to players within Men’s Football, Hurling, Ladies Football and Camogie. We offer an exciting and progressive developmental scholarship programme to both prospective and current students.

GAA Scholarships

Maynooth University operates a scheme for scholarships in Gaelic Games. Scholarships are available to both male and female students on full time registered courses. Eligibility is based on an applicant’s ability to continuously demonstrate a high level of performance at county level in one of the following codes, Hurling, Camogie, Men’s Gaelic Football and Ladies Gaelic football.
The aim of our scholarship programme is to offer talented GAA athletes the opportunity to develop their sporting potential through the use of top class facilities, performance programmes and expertise, combined with an excellent academic career. The GAA scholarship is open to both current and prospective students, and offers valuable support to students in their pursuit of sporting and academic excellence. Scholarships are awarded on a one year basis.
The Maynooth University GAA club provides a holistic approach to developing our athletes as both individual and team players. This is achieved through a network of support services, including top class facilities, highly experienced coaching staff and conditioning support systems.

First Year GAA Scholarship
Applications for incoming first year students open on November 1^st and close on April 1st each year. You can submit your application through our on-line system which can be found Here. Short listed applicants will be invited to interview and notified of outcomes prior to the commencement of leaving cert exams.

Continuing and Post Graduate GAA Scholarship
Internal scholarships are available to continuing and post graduate full-time registered students.
Applications for continuing and post graduate students will open shortly.
Please note that the internal scholarship process is not open to incoming first years.
