Maynooth University is home to some of the top sports scholarship programmes in the world.

MU Barnhall's Darren Hudson captained the Irish Universities Rugby side to spectacular draw against the English Universities in Oxford in 2017.

World University Golf Champions, Danielle McVeigh (2007) and Robin Dawson (2016) developed their game on the Paddy Harrington Golf Scholarship, as did current Royal and Ancient Golf Club Scholars International Tournament Champions Gary Hurley (2013) and Stuart Grehan (2017).

MUs Soccer Scholarship provides a proven pathway for Ireland's underage internationals to emerge with a University degree in the addition to the opportunity to realise their potential a professional soccer career as shown by Jake Carroll and Jamie McGrath.  The MU Men's team won the centenary Collingwood Championship, and MU Ladies Soccer won both the WSCAI Premiership League and Championship in 2017.

GAA continues to build increasingly strong teams to contest Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Championships, while our women compete in the O'Connor Cup and Purcell competitions.
