We are delighted to tell you that we received confirmation from the Higher Education Authority and the Department of Education and Skills that the Turn to Teaching project has been funded for another three years. Turn to Teaching is a central element of Strand 1 of the Programme for Access to Higher Education (PATH), which supports access to initial teacher education by National Access Plan target groups.
This is great news and is an endorsement of the Turn to Teaching programme and a recognition of the contribution of our students, staff, linked schools, community partners, and participating departments in Maynooth University (Department of Adult and Community Education, Maynooth Access Programme, Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education and MU’s Department of Education) in ensuring that this is a collaborative and transformative learning programme.
The funding will enable us, the Turn to Teaching community, to further develop the creative pedagogies and supports that enable student from underrepresented groups to progress through our now established pathways into Initial Teacher Education and into employment. We look forward to working with you all in the next three years!
The announcement of the continuation of Turn to Teaching, which is funded by the Higher Education Authority and Maynooth University is set out in the following press release:
