Friday, November 22nd, 2019 was a significant date as it marked the Graduation Ceremony for the first Think About Teaching class, here at Maynooth University. Think About Teaching is a one year Foundation Couse for Initial Teacher Education (FCITE), which prepares students from under-represented groups for entry to teaching degrees in Maynooth University. The programme is funded by the HEA and Maynooth University, and is a colloborative initiative that is supported by the Department of Adult and Community Education, Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education, MU Department of Education and Maynooth Access Programme.
The graduates on the night were joined on the night by family, friends, lecturing staff, members of the Turn to Teaching Steering Coimmittee and Mr Neil McDermott of the HEA to celebrate the students' wonderful achievement. The audience was also treated to a beautiful performance by the 'Little Minceirs' of their original compositon 'Labels'. The 'Little Minceirs' are a group of talented girls from the Offaly Traveller Movement.
