Professor Doherty, Head of Maynooth University Department of Law, appeared on RTÉ Radio 1’s Drivetime show on 21 January 2015 to discuss the role of the trade union movement and the potential of a new ‘social dialogue’ process starting between employers, unions and the State.

The panel discussion also featured Minister of State for Business and Employment, Ged Nash, and Sally Anne Kinahan, Assistant General Secretary of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.

Professor Doherty has written and commented extensively on the social partnership process, including his account of the collapse of the process; It Must Have Been Love…But It’s Over Now: The Crisis and Collapse of Irish Social Partnership, published in Transfer: European Review of Labour and Research in 2011.
