Patrick Holden is a Reader in International Relations at the School of Law, Criminology and Government at the University of Plymouth. His work explores the link between power, ideas and public policy. His primary research interests focus on the external relations of the European Union, International Political Economy and International Development.  At Plymouth, Patrick is the programme leader of the Masters in International Relations: Global Security and Development. Recent academic work of his has been published in journals such as West European Politics, Development Policy Review, Cooperation and Conflict andThe Journal of International Relations and Development. Patrick has also published poems and short stories in Orbis, The Journal and The New European. Patrick studied at University College Dublin and the University of Limerick (where he received a Government of Ireland PhD Scholarship) while also completing doctoral training at the Centre for International Studies, Cambridge.
