Player- Stage, simulation and control in robotics:

In high level robotics control it very convenient to focus on programming and control aspects rather than low level devices like sensors, actuators etc. The middleware Player gives the ability to program a robot in simple way, without the need for knowledge about the low level mechanical or electronic implementation.

From a software developer’s point of view Player acts as a bridge between the programming environment and the physical or simulated robots. Additionally, Stage, as a robot simulator, provides a virtual environment for quick and preparatory experiments. Player can connect to both - physical robots and Stage simulations.

In our presentation we will explain how they work and also will give implementation examples.

Talks by Adam Szmigielski and Piotr Gnys from the Polish Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw.
