Professor Ortiz is the Maynooth University distinguished visiting scholar 2019.  He has worked extensively on stem cell therapies for lung diseases, and on treating coal miners of W. Pennsylvania. As 2019 also marks the 160th anniversary of the election of Maynooth alumnus Sir Dominic Corrigan as president of the Royal College of Physicians, it is fitting that this event will be in the beautiful Corrigan Hall.
 
The lecture is jointly hosted by the Maynooth University Human Health Institute and the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association
