Health Geographies are a significant research focus at Maynooth. This event draws some of these scholars together to consider the Geopolitics of Health and of Health Care. Health Geographers have given close attention to the geographical implications of health policy and to the geographical inequalities that health policies might address. The political and geopolitical framing of these policies has received less attention. As Covid and AIDS have made clear there are significant political pressures on health policy choices. This is often seen as an unwanted interference with science yet the choices that health policies imply are always political, even geopolitical.
