Campus ReUse campaign gets under way

Helping fellow students and the environment
Monday, May 15, 2023 - 09:00

Following the success of the ReDuce, ReUse and ReCycle campaign at the start of the year, the Maynooth University International office has teamed up with colleagues from MU Green campus and the Residence office to help reduce items being thrown out when students vacate their on-campus accommodation at the end of term.

It is a common scenario for students leaving their accommodation not take the items with them after their term. This is due to a variety of reasons, most often linked to cumbersome items that are difficult to travel with, or simply those that are no longer needed.

The ReDuce, ReUse and ReCycle campaign encourages all students to bring whatever they can home with them. We are, however, conscious that this may not always be possible and so if there are items students cannot take home, Maynooth Green Campus will store them and donate them to incoming students and surpluses will be donated to charity during the next term in September 2023.

The items accepted are:

- Linens, towels and duvets
- Crockery – mugs, cutlery, plates, etc.
- Pots & pans, kitchen utensils, etc.
- Decorations
- Stationery
- Bathroom ware
- Electrical items
- Clothes

The collection point is the Courtyard Apartments (bike storage area)
From Monday 15th May until Friday the 5th June between the hours of 9 am to 5 pm.

Maynooth University Green Campus members will be on location every Thursday (the 18th, 25th of May and the 1st of June) to help segregate items.

Students can also contact Green campus directly at greencampus@mu.ie for any further details or have questions answered.
