Maynooth University School of Business Fulbright Awardee – Ciarán McFadden

Ciarán McFadden, a PhD candidate in the Maynooth University School of Business under the supervision of Dr Marian Crowley-Henry, is currently enjoying a Fulbright-National University of Ireland Award where he is undertaking research in the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law and Public Policy at UCLA Law School, USA. His research there explores recruitment discrimination against transgender job applicants, while his broader PhD investigates the careers and identity of LGB people in Irish workplaces. Ciarán has already a number of awards under his belt: a Maynooth University John & Pat Hume Postgraduate Scholarship (2012), an Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postgraduate Research scholarship (2013), and best postgraduate paper at the Irish Academy of Management (2013). Ciarán is building up international links with pioneering academics in the growing area of LGBT/Diversity studies in Management while in the USA, as well as promoting the Ireland and Maynooth University brands.
