Chinese Delegation from Zhongnan University School of Economics and Law (ZUEL) Visits Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology
A high-level delegation from the Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL), China, visited the School of Law and Criminology on 24 June 2025. Facilitated and organised by our colleague Dr Jiangyuan Fu, this visit has been of strategic importance to lay the foundation of a collaboration between the two universities, with a view of strengthening the academic ties.

MU DANCING project ends with unveiling of artwork
Maynooth University’s DANCING project drew to a close after five years with the unveiling of a specially-commissioned artwork by MU President Professor Eeva Leinonen at the project’s final conference last week.

ERC DANCING Final Conference
On 19-20 June, 2025, the ERC DANCING Project, led by PI Prof. Delia Ferri, held its Final Conference, celebrating the research conducted during the five years of the project. The Final Conference was also a great occasion to discuss the objectives and results of DANCING and highlight the numerous artistic collaborations that DANCING had during its course. The two days saw the participation of numerous outstanding scholars, stakeholders and collaborators of the project.

New Publication on Catfishing and Image-Based Sexual Abuse
The article entitled 'Developments in the Law Governing Online Activity: The Criminalisation of Catfishing and Civil Relief in Cases of Image-Based Sexual Abuse' considers whether catfishing, a practice involving the misappropriation of someone's image, likeness, voice or identity for the purposes of deceiving another individual particularly in an online forum, should be made a stand-alone criminal offence.

Dr. Ian Marder to appear on RTÉ One documentary Natasha
On 25 June 2025, Dr. Ian Marder (Associate Professor in Criminology, Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology), will feature in the RTÉ One documentary Natasha. Natasha is the story of Natasha O’Brien, a young woman from Limerick who survived a violent assault by a serving soldier, and whose retraumatising experiences of criminal justice led to her engaging in advocacy relating to the rights and needs of victims of crime more broadly.
