Liam Lanigan, BA and MA graduate of the Maynooth University English Department and Lecturer in English (from Feb 2015), has just launched his first book, James Joyce, Urban Planning, and Irish Modernism: Dublins of the Future (Palgrave Macmillan).  The book examines the influence of and literary responses to the ideology of urban planning in early twentieth-century Irish writing, with particular attention to James Joyce's Ulysses and to a range of novels by authors including James Stephens and George Moore.  James Joyce, Urban Planning, and Irish Modernism is a significant new contribution to our understanding of the representation of urban experience in the Irish Literary Revival and in modernist fiction more generally.
