The Department of English is delighted to announce the appointment of two new members of staff.
Dr Rita Sakr is joining our lecturing team from January 2018 as Lecturer in Postcolonial and Global Literatures. Dr Sakr is the author of two monographs: Monumental Space in the Post-Imperial Novel (Continuum/Bloomsbury) and ‘Anticipating’ the 2011 Arab Uprisings: Revolutionary Literartures and Political Geographies (Palgrave). Dr Sakr brings immense expertise in the areas of migration, postcolonialism, Middle Eastern writing and human rights. We look forward to the new experiences which Dr Sakr’s expertise will bring to our students and to the Department’s research culture.
