Professor Kathleen Lynch (UCD)

'Metrics and Markets in Higher Education: Creating Care-Less Citizens'

Kathleen Lynch is Professor of Equality Studies, and an Irish Research Council Advanced Research Fellow 2014-2017.  She founded the UCD Equality Studies Centre in 1990, and the UCD School of Social Justice in 2005.  Her most recent publication is New Managerialism in Education: Commercialisation, Carelessness and Gender (2012; 2nd ed. 2015) (co-authored with Bernie Grummell and Dympna Devine), a book which is the most important treatment yet of the neoliberal/managerial university in the Irish context.  Professor Lynch is also the author of Equality: From Theory to Action (2004) and Affective Equality: Love, Care and Injustice (2009).
