Writer-in-Residence Event | 'Wretched Strangers' hosted by Writer-in-Residence Christodoulos Makris
Wretched Strangers, edited by JT Welsch and Ágnes Lehóczky, responded to political paranoia about borders in the UK, by gathering non-UK-born poets to celebrate diversity in ‘British’ writing. Readings and discussion by Katherine Ebury, Áilbhe Hines, and Aodán McCardle, with editors JT Welsch and Ágnes Lehóczky.

Illuminations Exhibition | Form Ever Follows Function
Form Ever Follows Function runs from February 4 to March 8, with a launch event at 6 pm on February 6 at the Illuminations gallery, Iontas Building, Maynooth University. gorse and The Pickled Body will launch the exhibition with a reception and discussion featuring artists and curators. Writer-in-Residence | Mia Gallagher & Alan McMonagle in discussion with Paul Lynch
Award-winning author Mia Gallagher is the author of HellFire, Beautiful Pictures of the Lost Homeland, and Shift. Her work has been widely anthologized. Alan McMonagle’s first novel, Ithaca, was nominated for the Desmond Elliott Prize. He has published two volumes of short stories, and his work has appeared in many journals.

Illuminations Exhibition | Redemption: The Architecture of Robin Walker
To coincide with the launch of Maynooth University’s new Strategic Plan, Illuminations revisits Robin Walker’s iconic Arts Building (1970-1977). Built on the North Campus as an educational hub, housing several academic departments, a library and a social area, the Art Building was a visionary building – contemporary, light, and conceived via a modernist aesthetic that was both sparse and beautiful.
