Before Thomas Parr from Shropshire died at the ripe old age of 152 years he gave the following advice for longevity: “Keep your head cool by temperance; your feet warm by exercise; rise early, and go soon to bed; and if you are inclined to get fat, keep your eyes open, and your mouth shut.” Find out more about Parr’s extraordinary life at the ‘Medicine and Natural History Exhibition’ which takes place at the Russell Library, Maynooth University, on Wednesday, 27th January. Material on display includes a 19th Century work on cataract operations and an 18th Century diagram of the human body. Join us for a guided tour of the exhibition at 12:00 pm or drop in to view the exhibition during our normal opening hours (10:00 am – 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm).
