Prof Donal O’Neill appointed to the Labour Market Advisory Council by Heather Humphreys (Minister of Social Protection, Community and Rural Development and the Islands).

The role of the Labour Market Advisory Council is to provide advice to the Minister with regard to the policies and operations of the Department of Social Protection, Community and Rural Development and the Islands insofar as they pertain to the efficient operation of the labour market with a particular view to increasing participation rates, minimising unemployment levels and reducing average unemployment durations.

In particular Prof O'Neill has accepted a role on the Labour Market Advisory Council’s Evaluation Sub-group which assists the Minister and Council in relation to the evaluation of the impact, effectiveness and efficiency of measures implemented as part of the Pathways to Work strategy, and other active labour market programmes and policies aimed at supporting unemployed individuals to access employment, ensuring that they align with sectoral needs and the future world of work.
