NIUM Product design student wins the 2014 Inaugural Design Partners student prize

The department of Design Innovation is delighted to announce that our 3rd year student Stuart Cameron has won the inaugural design partners student prize. Stuart’s project Snapp is a camera designed for kids and young explorers. Snapp allows parents to save thousands of little memories, set adventure challenges and more importantly, see the world through the child’s eyes.

The student prize, organised by Design Partners, one of the Irelands and Europe’s leading design consultancies, saw 3rd year students from NCAD (National College of Art & Design) and Maynooth University ’s Product Design degrees compete over a 12 week design project.  The challenging brief was to design an object that sparked “unexpected yet meaningful interactions” and the entries were judged by a panel of six leading international design consultants and engineers.

As the overall winner, Stuart will receive a cash prize of €1000 and paid summer internship with Design Partners in their Irish office.  The Department congratulates Stuart on his win, and indeed all of the finalists and entrants from both colleges.
