At their recent team meeting, the University Writing Centre staff marked the successfully completion of their doctoral studies by four colleagues, namely Alan Carmody, Brandt Dainow, Matthew Fogarty and Sarah O’Brien.  In tandem with their doctoral studies these colleagues have contributed hugely to the writing centre in terms of supporting students in one-to-one appointments, facilitating writing workshops and seminars, and conducting research into writing practices.  Dr Alison Farrell, Head of the University Writing Centre, remarked on the commitment of the writing centre staff in general; ‘we are incredibly fortunate with the calibre of our tutors; they are talented, intelligent, thoughtful colleagues who are dedicated to helping our students to become better writers’.
