Hate Crime Bill 2022 - Oireachtas Briefing
The Government Hate Crime Bill will enter its 2nd stage reading in the Oireachtas next week. In advance of TD's consideration of the Bill, Dr Séamus Taylor has produced and circulated a briefing for members of Oireachtas.

Maynooth University Raises the issue of Child Trafficking with the UN
Dr Niamh Flanagan Coordinator of the postgraduate module on human trafficking at Maynooth Universisty, joined the Irish civil society delegation to the UN Committee on the rights of the child in Geneva last week to highlight the issue of child trafficking. Dr Flanagan provided a policy brief to members of the Committee Task Force on key concerns and shortcomings in Irish systems.

This book analyses the contributions of activists,politicians, policy makers and criminal justice system practitioners to policy development, and critiques both the under-recognition of disability prejudice and the challenge of vulnerability in addressing disability hostility.

Oireachtas Justice Committee adopts Maynooth University Academic's recommendations on Hate Crime
The Justice Committee in the Oireachtas issued their report on the Hate Crime Bill and recommend that the bill be amended to include a demonstration test of hostility and to align with Hate Crime provisions in Northern Ireland. Both recommendations were advised by Dr Séamus Taylor, Head of Department of Applied Social Studies
