Ancient Peace, Modern Lessons Workshop

Friday, June 6, 2014 - 11:00
John Hume Lecture Theatre 7

The Dept. of Ancient Classics and the Edward M. Kennedy Institute present a workshop that considers ancient experiences of reconciliation and concession, in an attempt to establish imaginative links between past and present. Do ancient efforts to establish peace offer any useful parallels to contemporary societies enduring, or emerging from, conflict?

In this workshop, Classics scholars will highlight some key examples of the ancient experience of peace, and would welcome responses from a broader inter-disciplinary audience as we consider how ancient insights might enhance modern processes.
