Seán Henry, who teaches on the Think About Teaching Foundation Cert, contributed a chapter to the recently published collection Irish and British Reflections on Catholic Education (Ed. Sean Whittle). His chapter was entitled 'The Queerness of Education: Rethinking Catholic Schooling Beyond Identity.' In it, Seán argued for a re-imagining of Catholic schooling resistant to homophobia and transphobia by turning to the idea of education as a queer political praxis.

RTRL Fighting Words Workshop
Our Rising Teachers and Rising Leaders recently participated in a series of creative writing workshops, facilitated by Fighting Words. Fighting Words are an organisation that help children and young people, and adults who did not have this opportunity as children, to discover and harness the power of their own imaginations and creative writing skills. During the workshop, the Rising Teachers were given an opportunity to work with the children and help them with their story writing. It was a tremendous experience for all concerned and the proof was in the quality of the stories that the children produced on the day!

Community Education Facilitators (CEFs), representing all 16 Education and Training Boards across Ireland, gathered in Athlone on the 11th and 12th of October for our annual two-day Networking Event. The event marked the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Community Education Facilitators’ Association (CEFA) in Ireland.
