The Fulbright Awards provide grants for Irish citizens, and E.U. citizens resident in the Republic of Ireland for 3+ years, to research, study, or lecture in the USA.
There are five types of Fulbright grants available to Irish and E.U. citizens:
Fulbright Irish Student Awards to conduct postgraduate research / enrol in postgraduate degree programs in the U.S.
Fulbright Irish FLTA Awards to teach the Irish language in the U.S.
Fulbright Irish Scholar Awards for academic or professional research / lecturing in the U.S.
Fulbright Irish TechImpact Awards to conduct academic or professional research in the U.S.
Fulbright Irish Schuman Awards for graduate & postgraduate study, research & lecturing in the U.S.

Maynooth University was designated as a University of Sanctuary in early 2020 in recognition of its efforts to welcome and include people seeking asylum, refugees and other migrants.
Scholarships for entry in 2021-2022 are now closed but for general information; Scholarships are open to:
international protection applicants; and
refugees, beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, and those with leave to remain,
who do not have access to state support for their studies (meaning ‘free fees’, the state pilot support scheme, SUSI grant, social welfare payments).
Applicants must be registered with the Department of Justice and documentation of status will be required.
The same reduced points as are in place under the HEAR and DARE schemes will be applied to sanctuary scholarship applicants who are applying for undergraduate courses through the CAO.

Each scholarship will include:
A Fee Waiver;
A Maynooth Access Package of Supports, which includes, among other things, the Launchpad Orientation Programme, a Technology Support Programme, and an academic advisor; and,
A Student Services Package of Supports that offer pre-paid transportation, subsistence and a laptop.
