Internal Transfers

Internal Transfer options are available to continuing undergraduate students from Maynooth University (and St. Patrick’s Pontifical University), who wish to transfer to another programme in Year 2 or above in Maynooth University. Internal transfers normally have two forms: 1. Automatic Transfers and, 2. Application to Transfer.

  1. Automatic Transfers will continue as before. Such transfers are available to undergraduate students who are eligible for transfer into Year 2 or above of a different programme based on agreed published criteria. Application to transfer is not required. If the student meets the criteria, all possible options will be made available to them when they register online at the beginning of the new academic year. It will be up to the student which option they choose.
  2. Application to Transfer applies to undergraduate students who are not eligible for an automatic transfer route but may apply for an internal transfer based on exams results and subjects/modules already passed. These types of transfers are subject to space availability and student results. They will require Head of Department recommendation, and the Curriculum Office’s approval in conjunction with the Registry Transfer Committee where necessary. The Registry Transfer Committee is comprised of Registry staff from the Student Records Office, Examinations Office and Curriculum Office.

All queries related to internal transfers are welcome, and the Curriculum Office can be contacted by email at internaltransfers@mu.ie. Depending on the time of year, we aim to respond to your query within 3 working days. We would advise students to check the list of automatic transfer options available (see link below) before submitting an application. Note there will be no application fee from 1st November 2023.

Academic Database – Academic Structures and Modules

The aim of this office is to ensure that all academic structures are up to date and accurate at all times. This is to:

  1. Facilitate the administrative processes of the University in relation to students' records, examination timetabling and lecture timetabling.
  2. Ensure CourseFinder on the Maynooth University web pages is accurate and up to date.

Key Functions of the office:

  • Maintaining and monitoring the Academic Database (ADB) throughout the academic year to ensure academic structures are up to date and accurate at all times.
  • This data directly updates CourseFinder on the MU web pages, available via 'For Current Students' or 'For Staff', click 'CourseFinder'.
  • Facilitating the process whereby departments can update and amend academic structures for the following academic year on the ADB. The process usually commences in February each year for a period of four to six weeks.
  • Reviewing all academic structures prior to submission to Academic Council for approval in March/April of each year.
  • The ADB is the central source of academic information for all administrative functions - Students' records , examination timetabling and lecture timetabling. It also interfaces with MU's Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle) and Syllabus+ (Timetabling).
  • Ensuring a streamlined approach to all data relating the University academic structures e.g. Providing information, advice and assistance to the Admissions and Graduate Studies Offices to ensure that their data is up-to-date and linked to the academic structures on the ADB.
  • Providing assistance and advise to  departments in all areas relation to academic structures.
  • Working with the Administrative Support Team in the IT Services to develop and implement new functions on the ADB to further enhance and streamline academic structure data.

Access to the Academic Database is via Workbench (staff only).

Any queries about the ADB, creating new, or amending current programme structures, please contact Adrienne or Leona in the Curriculum Office at curriculum@mu.ie

Oifig Curaclaim Ollscoil Mhá Nuad

Bunachar Sonraí Acadúla - Structúir Acadúla agus Modúil

Is é aidhm na hoifige seo a chinntiú go bhfuil na structúir acadúla go léir cothrom le dáta agus cruinn an t-am ar fad. Is é seo chun:

  1. Próisis riaracháin na hOllscoile i dtaobh thaifid na mac léinn, amchlárú na scrúduithe agus amchlárú na léachtaí a éascú.
  2. Cinntiú go bhfuil CourseFinder ar leathanaigh ghréasáin Ollscoil Mhá Nuad cruinn agus cothrom le dáta.

Príomhfheidhmeanna na hoifige:

  • An Bunachar Sonraí Acadúil (ADB) a choinneáil agus monatóireacht a dhéanamh air i rith na bliana acadúla chun cinntiú go bhfuil na structúir acadúla cothrom le dáta agus cruinn an t-am ar fad.
  • Uasdátaíonn na sonraí seo CourseFinder ar leathanaigh ghréasáin OMN go huathoibríoch agus tá sé ar fáil trí 'Do Mhic Léinn Reatha' nó 'Don Fhoireann' nó is féidir cliceáil ar 'CourseFinder'.
  • An próiseas inar féidir le ranna struchtúir acadúla don bhliain acadúil seo chugainn a uasdátú agus a athrú ar an mBunachar Sonraí. Tosaíonn an próiseas de ghnáth i mí Feabhra gach bliain ar feadh tréimhse a mhaireann idir ceithre seachtaine agus sé seachtaine.
  • Athbhreithniú a dhéanamh ar na structúir acadúla go léir sula gcuirfear isteach chuig an gComhairle Acadúil iad le faomhadh gach Márta nó Aibreán.
  • Foinse lárnach don eolas acadúil do na feidhmeanna riaracháin go léir atá sa Bhunachar Sonraí - taifid na mac léinn, amchlárú scrúduithe agus amchlár léachtaí. Feidhmíonn sé chomh maith mar chomhéadan sé freisin le Timpeallacht Foghlama Fíorúil OMN (Moodle) agus Syllabus+ (Amchlárú).
  • Cinntiú go bhfuil cur chuige sruthlíneach ann do na sonraí go léir a bhaineann le struchtúir acadúla na hOllscoile m.sh. eolas, comhairle agus cúnamh a chur ar fáil do na hoifigí Iontrálacha agus Staidéir Iarchéime chun a chinntiú go bhfuil na sonraí cothrom le dáta agus nasctha leis na structúir acadúla ar an mBunachar Sonraí.
  • Cúnamh agus comhairle a chur ar fáil do ranna i ngach réimse a bhaineann le structúir acadúla.
  • Obair a dhéanamh leis an bhFoireann Tacaíochta Riaracháin sna Seirbhísí TF chun feidhmeanna nua a fhorbairt agus a chur i bhfeidhm ar an mBunachar Sonraí agus aidhm againn anseo sonraí na struchtúr acadúla a fheabhsú agus a athchóiriú chun éifeachta.

Is féidir rochtain a fháil ar an mBunachar Sonraí trí Workbench (foireann amháin).

Má tá aon cheisteanna agat faoin mBunachar Sonraí nó faoi structúir cláir nua a chruthú, nó struchtúir reatha a leasú, déan teagmháil le hAdrienne nó Leona san Oifig Curaclaim ag curriculum@mu.ie
