Andreas Speer is Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Thomas-Institute at the University of Cologne. He has written and edited various books and articles concerning the history of medieval philosophy and theology, on natural philosophy, metaphysics, epistemology and aesthetics. He directs major research projects (the Meister Eckhart archive, the Averroes edition, the edition of the commentary on Sentences by Durandus a S. Porciano, etc.). He conducts the Kölner Mediaevistentagungen and is the general editor of the book series Miscellanea Mediaevalia (Berlin: W. DeGruyter) and Studien und Texte zur Geistesgeschichte des Mittelalters (Leiden: E.J. Brill).
