Biography

Liadh Kelly is a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Maynooth University. She obtained a PhD in Computer Science on the topic of personal lifelog access from Dublin City University. She also holds MSc (Research) and BSc (Hons) degrees in Computer Science from University College Dublin. She was a Research Manager and a Research Fellow in the SFI funded ADAPT Research Centre at Trinity College Dublin and at Dublin City University (DCU), in the Intelligent Systems discipline. She was a Postdoctoral Researcher at DCU, on an interdisciplinary EU FP7 project focusing on multilingual medical search and access systems, and a researcher on the EU FP7 Tripod image search services project. She has also contributed to several other research projects. She was a Multimedia Information Retrieval lecturer at DCU, an Information Technology lecturer at Athlone Institute of Technology, and a part-time programming lecturer at other institutes. 

Research Interests

Liadh’s research lies in the applied artificial intelligence space and revolves around intelligent search, ubiquitous computing, and multimodal information access and retrieval, with a special focus on context sensitive information retrieval and evaluation methodology.

Teaching Interests

Liadh supervises and teaches students on topics in the space of multimedia technologies and data access and retrieval. She is the Programme Director of the MSc Computer Science (Applied).
