Professor Michael Doherty discusses Ryanair strikes

Prof Doherty appeared on RTÉ Six-One news to discuss the decision of Ryanair pilots to strike. The item was broadcast on Tuesday, July 3rd.

Prof Doherty also appeared on Newstalk FM’s Breakfast Show on Tuesday, July 10th, to discuss the Ryanair issue.

Professor Doherty researches widely in the area of industrial relations law and policy and has written and commented extensively on strikes and collective bargaining. He has written extensively on the issue of trade union recognition in Ryanair, including his piece 'Representation, Bargaining and the Law: Where Next For the Unions?’ published in the Northern Ireland Legal Quarterly in 2009.

He also published a more recent piece ‘When You Ain't Got Nothin', You Got Nothin' to Lose.... Union Recognition Laws, Voluntarism and the Anglo Model’, in the Industrial Law Journal.

He is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law and lectures courses to all first year law students on Introduction to Law and Employment Law to BCL/ LLB students.
