Law Department Students Involved in Organising ELSA's Largest Summer Law School

Tuesday, August 26, 2014 - 00:00

ELSA Ireland's inaugural Summer Law School on Corporate Finance and Law recently took place at Trinity College Dublin, from 10 – 16 August 2014, and was sponsored by top Irish law firm, Arthur Cox. The School, which saw 85 participants from 35 different countries descend on Dublin and take part in an incredibly rewarding experience, was the largest ever Summer Law School organised by any national group in ELSA International's network. This is a remarkable accomplishment, considering this was ELSA Ireland's very first Law School.

Three of Maynooth University Department of Law's students serve on the board of ELSA Ireland and several more played integral roles on the Organising Committee of the Summer Law School, those being: Alexandra English, Hugh McIntyre, Mark O’Reilly, and Suzanne Scott. ELSA Ireland is a national group of the Europe-wide network of law students, ELSA, the European Law Students' Association.

Lecturers included Arthur Cox's Greg Glynn, the Law Reform Commission's Director of Research, Ray Byrne, Microsoft Ireland's Denise Farnsworth, William Fry's Cormac Little, Maynooth University Department of Law's Eva Nagle, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in Ireland's Steve Seymour, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute's Mary Condell, among others.
