ISSCL Conference - 28th and 29th March 2014, An Foras Feasa

The second biannual ISSCL conference will take place on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th March 2014 at An Foras Feasa, Maynooth University.

The conference theme is ‘Be Merry and Wise: Children’s and Young Adult Literature from Chapbooks to the Digital Age‘.

The keynote speaker, Professor Karin Lesnik-Oberstein and Director of the Graduate Centre for International Research in Childhood: Literature, Culture and Media at The University of Reading, will discuss children’s literature and neuroscience. Panels will address the following issues in youth literature and culture: politics and propaganda; children’s and young adult literature and new media; children’s literature and Irish curricula; centuries of girlhood; changing social and political attitudes and children’s literature; litríocht na n-Óg; folk and fairytales; adult/child relationships and literature for young audiences.
