This project aims to build capacity in the use of GIS in health research in poor countries. This involves training in open source GIS, and minimising the cost to participants. In Phase 1 researchers from Thailand, Malawi and Kenya were brought to Maynooth, trained, and then brought this work into the programmes in their home countries. Hence this is now embedded in the national Field Epidemiology Training Programme in Thailand. Further training course have been run for Irish NGOs and development researchers. |
