Dr Michael Hayden
Dr. Michael Hayden, Lecturer in Accounting, in the Department of Economics, Finance & Accounting graduated recently with his PhD in Accounting. Michael completed his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Ruth Mattimoe at DCU. The title of Michael's thesis was Sensemaking and Financial Decision-making on Irish Farms. Throughout this research project Michael collaborated with a number of key stakeholder groups in the Irish Agricultural Industry, including: Teagasc, IFAC Accountants, the Irish Farmers Association and the Irish Agricultural Consultants Association.

Helen Mitchell, a Maynooth graduate and community worker who has been in the Philippines for 17 years spoke to a group of Community and Youth Work students at Maynooth University this week. She spoke about the WoW bags project with women in the area of Wenceslau in the Pampanga province of the Philippines.

In African conflict environments where people are killed, maimed and displaced persistently, values such as peace, truth, justice and mercy cannot take deep root, nor can people live normal lives or experience true peace, according to Fr. Patrick Devine SMA, delivering the fourth Lt. Gen. Dermot Earley Memorial Lecture in Maynooth University today.
