Dr Opeyemi Kolawole presents a paper on Technology Transfer and Least Developed Countries at Intellectual Property Law Conference at Sheffield University
The research paper, which derives from Dr Kolawole’s doctoral research project completed at Sutherland School of Law, University College Dublin, under the supervision of Dr Cliona Kelly, examined the technology transfer framework in the TRIPS Agreement, particularly Article 66.2, which focuses on technology transfer to Least Developed Countries.

MA participant Joseph Kabwe Kamfwa supports Afri’s annual Famine Walk
Joseph Kabwe Kamfwa participated in an annual Afri event in County Mayo on 20th May 2023. Joseph is one of our wonderful 2022/23 MA in International Development programme participants. As an agriculturalist and development practitioner from Zambia, Joseph drew on personal experience and values to speak with authenticity and integrity at the event.

Dr Joe Garrihy publishes a piece on the Mountjoy Prison – Maynooth University Partnership and the Unlocking Potential Project in the British Journal of Criminology Newsletter
While the principle of prison being a last resort requires constant assertion and implementation, the MJMU Partnership and the UPP projects demonstrate the opportunities to collaboratively ameliorate prison conditions to build positive pathways for those imprisoned or with a history of contact with the criminal justice system.

Homes for Ireland, report launched today
Dr Rory Hearne Maynooth University Department of Applied Social Studies and Phil Murphy Housing researcher, today launched their in-depth policy paper that sets out the case for establishing a new public home building agency that would build, refurbish and retrofit homes in Ireland.

PatentsInHumans Prof Aisling McMahon and Dr Opeyemi Kolawole present paper on Patents and Medical Devices at Intellectual Property Law Conference in Sheffield University
The paper focused specifically on attachable or implantable medical devices, including, for example prosethetic devices, and examined how rightsholders decisions around intellectual property rights over such devices can significantly impact how users/providers can use and access such devices.

The article outlines what the EU’s Code of Practice on Disinformation sets out but also considers relevant new obligations under the new Digital Services Act (DSA) for large online platforms such as Twitter to manage systemic risks such as online disinformation.
