Trauma in Conflict Intervention - Study Group

Space for exploration, learning and research-Trauma in Conflict Intervention
Wednesday, November 18, 2015 - 16:00 to 18:00
Kennedy Institute Manor Mills location

Last July, the Maynooth University- Edward Kennedy Institute hosted a workshop on Approaches to Dealing with Trauma, facilitated by Adjunct Faculty, Patty Abozaglo.

Given the interest in the topic shown then, the Kennedy Institute is proposing the formation of a  Study Group to give practitioners of various disciplines an opportunity to explore the topic further, learn from each other and deepen knowledge on its implications in wider society.

It is intended that this Study Group will provide a space for exploration, learning and research.

The workshop last July involved practitioners of various disciplines including, mediators, psychotherapists, community development and international development professionals. The session was an opportunity to share the findings of the Peace and Wellness Project, using Capacitar and Laban Dance in Colombia and Peru where creative approaches to deal with trauma in conflict and violent environments have been used in communities affected by armed conflict and political tensions.  20 participants attended this successful event last July.

The first meeting to inaugurate the Study Group will take place on Wednesday 18 November 2015.
