PhD Position in Biology and Chemistry

Funding for a PhD project entitled ‘Rational Design of New Silver Antifungal Therapeutics to Combat Drug Resistance: A Proteomics Strategy’ is available. The project will be based in the Departments of Biology and Chemistry and will be jointly supervised by Professors Kevin Kavanagh (Biology), Denise Rooney and Frances Heaney (Chemistry). The project is for four years and the stipend will be €18,500 per annum plus University fees.

Prospective candidates should have at least an upper second class honours degree in Biology, Biomedical Science, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Chemistry, having taken Biology or Chemistry to third year. The successful applicant will join a supportive, interdisciplinary team within The Lonsdale Institute for Human Health Research. They will be part of a vibrant research community, equipped with modern techniques and offering opportunities to collaborate with complementary research groups and to present their findings at national and international conferences.
