MSc Studentship Position in Computational Biophysics

A two years research MSc is available in the Department of Chemistry at the NUI Maynooth. Under the supervision of Dr. Elisa Fadda, the successful candidate will use molecular simulation methods to study specific protein-protein and protein-peptides interactions aimed at the design of molecular diagnostics for cancer research and personalized medicine.
 
The successful candidate will be trained in a wide range of computational chemistry methods constituting the state-of-the-art in computational structural biology and biophysics. More specifically, the successful candidate will learn the theoretical aspects and will gain proficiency in the application of classical mechanics and statistical mechanics-based methods, as well of ab initio and DFT methods. 

We are looking for highly motivated and inventive candidates, who have reached a high honors standard with a minimum H2.1 (or equivalent international qualification) primary degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or in a relevant discipline. Prior experience in theoretical chemistry methods and/or computer programming is highly preferable.
