Wednesday, June 2, 2021 - 11:30

Congratulations to 11 Traveller Health workers who completed the Return to Learning programme
in the Department of Applied Social Studies at Maynooth University.

We were delighted to mark their notable achievements, during very tough circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic,
in an online zoom celebration on 31 May 2021, with our President Professor Philip Nolan, partners in the Maynooth Access Programme, College Connect, Dept. Adult Education, Registry and Exams Offices Maynooth University and our partners the Eastern Region Traveller Health Unit
and the HSE, and in the community, Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre.

The Maynooth University Return to Learning programme was delivered by Maynooth University Department of Applied Social Studies
and funded by the HSE and the Eastern Region Traveller Health Unit.

The programme provided professional development and educational opportunities for Traveller Health Workers.
Participating in and completing this programme is a significant achievement, especially as most of it took place during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Eight of the participants have progressed into the Bachelor of Social Science (Community and Youth Work) part-time in-service programme
at Maynooth University

We are proud of all the participants and of the challenging and important work
they have continued to do, in  and with their community during the pandemic.
