Photo Exhibition- Roma: One People – Many Lives

The Department of Social Studies at Maynooth University in partnership with the Equality Authority of Ireland and Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre are delighted to launch and host a new exhibition entitled 'Roma: One People - Many Lives'. The exhibition features photographs by James Fraher and documents many aspects of the lives of Roma people. The launch also marks International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This year's theme is "The Role of Leaders in Combatting Racism and Racial Discrimination" and was chosen by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to highlight key role that leaders play in mobilising political will to combat racism and racial discrimination. Anastasia Crickley, Head of Department of Applied Social Studies was recently elected vice president of the UN Committee for Elimination of Racial Discrimination at their session this February.

The exhibition will be launched in Maynooth University library at 1pm on Thursday, March 20th by Professor Philip Nolan, President of Maynooth University and Monika Makulova of Pavee Point to mark International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on the 21st of March.  We would be delighted to see  you there on the day.

Roma: One People - Many Lives will be on display in the library until Friday, 28th of March.
