This course is intended to introduce graduates in mathematics to current ideas and methods at the forefront of modern mathematical research. The topics vary from year to year but include modules in analysis, algebra and geometry.

Normally a 1st class honours BSc/BA in Pure Mathematics or equivalent.

Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to Irish university primary degree level.

Minimum English language requirements:

Applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study. For information about English language tests accepted and required scores, please see here. The requirements specified are applicable for both EU and International applicants.

Students will typically attend at least 10 lectures per week during the regular academic year, and give presentations on advanced mathematical topics to the class. During the summer, they will prepare a research project under the guidance of a supervisor.

Course Duration: 1 year full-time

The material in this programme prepares students to do PhD-level research in mathematics and is also excellent preparation for jobs in a variety of areas, including second-level teaching, the IT sector and finance.
