Biography

Olga Ryazanova is a Lecturer in Management at Maynooth University School of Business. Her primary research interests are in the governance and strategic management of higher education institutions, with the particular focus on the interactions between the individual and the organisational outcomes. At the organisational level, the focus of Olga's research is on scientific performance and societal impact of universities. At the individual level, her research focus is on academic careers and doctoral education. 

Dr. Ryazanova’s research has been published in top academic journals, such as the Academy of Management Learning & Education journal, Research Policy and Journal of World Business. Her work has received the Global Forum Award of the Management Education and Development division of the Academy of Management in 2014 and 2018, and has been selected as a finalist for Carolyn Dexter Best International Paper Award in 2016.

Dr. Ryazanova has served as an Associate Editor for the Academy of Management Learning & Education journal (2020-2023) and is currently putting her research into practice as an Associate Dean for Strategy and Governance at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Maynooth University.

Dr. Ryazanova is an active member of the Academy of Management, where Management Education & Development division is her primary home.  

Research Interests

My main area of interest is the strategic management of higher education institutions. Within this broad area, I conduct research on the drivers of scientific productivity, the management of academic careers, and the business of business schools. Examples of funded research projects:

- MUSSI-funded project on the role that scientists with dual institutional affiliations play in building inter-organisational research networks

Teaching Interests

I have developed and taught courses in the areas of Marketing Management, Innovation Management and Strategy at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I also developed and taught an undergraduate Placement course and a course on Research Methods at the doctoral level.
