Following Prof. Tobias Lock’s recent article for RTÉ Brainstorm, two of our other colleagues have published new pieces on their own research.

Firstly, Dr. Edana Richardson recently contributed an article outlining her own research on Islamic finance. This noted the growth in Islamic financial products and services in Ireland and other Western countries and argued that, as the market develops here in Ireland, further legislative changes may be needed.

You can read her full article here.
Dr. Richardson also teaches Islamic Finance Law on Maynooth University’s LLM programme in International Business Law.

Secondly, Dr. Ian Marder published an article on his work in restorative justice. This discussed the potential benefits for victims and offenders, positing that restorative justice should be much more widely available as part of the Irish criminal justice system.

You can read his full article here. Dr. Marder is currently writing a new module on restorative justice to be launched, in 2019/20, within the MA programme in Comparative Criminology and Criminal Justice.
