Title: "Genetic Insights into Sleep and Circadian Disruption in Neurodevelopmental and Neuropsychiatric Conditions: A Data Science Focus"
Abstract: Large-scale genetic studies have significantly deepened our understanding of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric conditions, offering valuable insights into their underlying biology. This seminar aims to provide an overview of the evidence for genetic basis of these conditions. Genetic information, from single genetic variants to large copy number variants and in combination, alongside new analytical techniques including polygenic score risk prediction and Mendelian randomisation, has been applied in large-scale approaches in both family and population studies and this research has improved our understanding of fundamental biology in mental health. In particular, these genomic data science approaches in large-scale data sets have opened new areas of research including chronobiology of mental health.
