Hosted by Maynooth University, the Irish Narrative Inquiry Conference is co-organised and supported by the National University of Ireland Galway and the Institute of Technology, Sligo. The conference aims to bring together a wide range of Irish and international scholars to showcase how narrative is and can be deployed in researching Irish society and experience. Registration begins on Thursday 19th March from 4.30pm until 5.45pm. The keynote address will begin at 6.00pm on Thursday 19th March 2015.

We invite research stories from the social sciences in particular but welcome contributions from across the disciplines that have a theoretical, methodological and/or creative interest in narrative.
We welcome contributions that consider narratives of teaching and learning, identity, gender and narrative, narrative as emancipatory or therapeutic force while novel areas and approaches to narrative inquiry are also of interest. As well as completed contributions "work in progress" will be most welcome.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Dr. Jean Clandinin is Professor and Founding Director of the Centre for Research for Teacher Education and Development at the University of Alberta. A former teacher, counsellor, and psychologist, she is a multiple award-winning author. Among her many scholarly contributions to the field of Narrative Inquiry she was editor of Handbook of Narrative Inquiry: Mapping a methodology (Sage, 2007) and Places of Curriculum Making, published in 2011, which was awarded the 2012 AERA Narrative Research Special Interest Group Outstanding Book award. Composing Lives in Transition (2013) is a narrative inquiry of the experiences of youth who left school before graduating. She has a new book in press about the experiences of teachers who leave teaching within their first five years of teaching. She is currently co-authoring a new book entitled Engaging in Narrative Inquiry with Children and Youth.
