A Goat for a Vote

Monday, November 17, 2014 - 00:00

On Tuesday 12th November the Department of Education hosted a special screening of the award winning new documentary film A Goat for a Vote www.agoatforavote.com by Dutch director Jeroen van Velzen.

This was followed by a Q&A with the film's producer: Hasse van Nunen along with David Rane and Neasa Ní Chianáin. Chairing the discussion was our erstwhile colleague Dr. Gerry Jeffers.

David and Neasa are filmmakers and co-directors of the GuthGafa International Documentary Film Festival www.guthgafa.com which has been running for the past eight years in Donegal and this year also in Kells Co. Meath.

A Goat for a Vote www.agoatforavote.com was screened recently at the 8th GuthGafa to highly enthusiastic reception. The audience of PME students and guests from across the university were equally enchanted by this excellent documentary. Plans are in place at present for its screening in schools across Kenya and we hope also that it will be soon available to all school in Ireland: it is without doubt a must-see film for all second level students.

This special screening is linked to the forthcoming Development Education Week http://devedweek.wordpress.com
